This website is about celebrating historic hotel architecture as well as modern day design and construction. We want to help educate people on the history of hotel architecture and at the same time give you tips for maintaining your own hotel.
My own hotel, the “Hotel Maria De Molina” was inherited to me by my grandparents. It is named after queen Maria Alfonso Tellez de Meneses. She was queen of Castile and Leon from 1284 to 1295. She is my distant grandmother and I remember fondly my own grandmother teaching me about my royal ancestry.
I have always been a fan of architecture and the hospitality service. I would visit my grandparents in the summer time and help out. Maybe I mostly got in the way but I felt like I was helping out. It was great fun. I can remember helping check in new residents and handing them their keys. As I got older my grandfather would teach me more about the business side of things. How to keep everything maintained, how to deal with disgruntled guests and employees. He lived by the golden rule “treat others how you want to be treated”.
He also taught me that everybody wants to feel important and as their host it is our duty to do so. That is the best experience we can provide them and I still carry on that mission statement today.
